Yo Oppo. I don’t know anything about TVs anymore. I’m technologically impaired. If I wanted to get a tv for my bedroom...let’s say @ the $150 range (plus or minus some $$$$) what do you recommend?
Points:
-I’m trying to avoid cable tv
-it doesn’t have to be the “best”
-my buddy can “jail break a fire stick” or “android box” whatever that means
HELP OPPO!!!

Jump on Amazon and look at the cheapest TVs with 1080p displays. Should be a whole bunch available and considering you’re getting a jail broken set top box you can save further money by avoiding any smart TV functionality.
Out of the brands, focus on something from Korea so either Samsung or LG since they make the best TVs.
If only EssExTee could be so grossly incandescent

I’ve got a Vizio 28-inch smart TV. It has Netflix and Amazon video built right in, no need for an extra box. Picture and sound quality are great.

I think the best option in cheap TV’s would be something like a Hisense or TCL. Check the major sites for outlets and refurbs. (My Sony is a refurb direct from Sony) Panasonic is a brand I’ve had zero issues with in the hundreds I’ve installed and owned 3-4 myself. Best Buy has a 43" Toshiba that’s priced well.
Woot.com, 1saleaday.com, edealinfo.com, dailysteals.com are all good sites to look for deals on.

I saw a HISENSE at Walmart! So that’s a good one?

If you’re going smaller than 42", which they probably are with that budget, 1080p isn’t as big a deal as you won’t notice the difference over a 720p on the smaller screens.

I think it’s a good way to get the most for your money. I had a few Hisense tablets I found well built. If I were looking for an inexpensive option it’s where I’d look.

I have a couple Vizios - a 60” M-Class 4K and a 32” E-Class 1080P - and could not be happier with these units. Trouble free ownership
I have heard good things about TCLs and have recommended them to others looking in your range. They’re good panels and have Roku built in.
